Let me start with a little background...I've been going back and forth in my head for a couple of years now with this idea that I think would be great to implement.
I'm not going to go into great detail about what I'm trying to accomplish, but I will describe the steps that I'm doing to achieve my end product.
I did some background research and discovered that I've got two ways to get my idea accomplished and off the ground:
1) Pay someone to do the work and then manage it (roughly $10,000 to start with)
2) Do it myself and then manage it
Option 1) seems like the logical way to do it. I've always been an advocate of if you want something done the right way, pay someone to do it. The thing is I don't have $10K stashed away somewhere. Short of borrowing the money (loans, family, friends) option 1) is likely a no go. (More about this in a later post)
Option 2) is the way to go. Now with option 2) there's the reality that what I want to do requires a particular skill set that I don't readily have available. Programming is the bulk of it. Since I don't have these skills readily available it will take time to learn the language and then create something tangible from that.
As with every new venture there's a process to be followed:
-Coming up with your idea
-Putting it down on paper
-Figuring out an execution plan
-Creating something tangible from your idea
-Executing
-Maintenance
Within these steps, there are many intermediate steps as well. Funding, technical knowledge and execution, marketing (if you're looking to make this venture profitable), etc.
So my goal with this blog is to capture these moments as part memoir, part reference, part cry for help, part sounding board of my journey towards a start up. I'm looking to succeed. Not achieving my ultimate goal wouldn't necessarily be a failure.
So I'm taking this opportunity to tighten up these bootstraps.
Some posts will be long and detailed. Some will be short and even seem meaningless, but each one will tell a story.
Wish me luck...
